Ingredients Label on Vape Organics E-JuiceSince day one, the mission fueling Vape Organics has been to set a new standard in the vape industry, as well as raise awareness about the existence of organic e-liquids and its potential benefits over synthetic e-liquids. Unfortunately, and although our products have been on the market for almost three years, lately we have seen an over-abundance of poorly-researched articles claiming that organic e-liquid is “impossible” and a “fraud,” arguing primarily that there is no such thing as e-juice free of PG and that nicotine cannot be organic. The authors of these articles could have done a simple search to check whether there are any certified organic e-liquids on the market, which would have shown that there is indeed one such company, thus completely negating their false claims. Once again, we have decided to take matters into our own hands and dispel, one by one, the myths promoted by these misleading articles… because you deserve the truth.

1. E-liquids Can’t be PG-free

It’s true what the naysayers advise: organic e-liquids cannot contain PG (propylene glycol), a synthetic substance derived from petroleum. However, they also falsely argue that there is no such thing as PG-free e-liquids. While a lot of e-liquid brands which claim to be 100% VG (vegetable glycerin) are referring exclusively to the base of their vape juices, and PG can, and often does, sneak in to the finished product through flavorings and nicotine, that doesn’t mean it’s not possible to craft products that are 100% free of PG. Vape Organics e-liquids are indeed 100% free of PG, and as the first and only USDA-certified organic e-liquid line, that claim is guaranteed through stringent, third-party regulation. Of course, the base of our e-liquids is 100% VG, but beyond that, we use PG as a carrier for neither our flavor extracts, nor for our PG.

2. Organic Nicotine Isn’t Available

Before Vape Organics launched, organic nicotine was not available anywhere in the world. As a result, another one of our fundamental and most rewarding challenges as a company has been to formulate our own organic nicotine. Why did we go through all of this trouble? As some authors of the misleading articles point out, tobacco is a chemical-intensive crop and, indeed, researchers examining cigarette smoke found traces of three pesticides, two of which are carcinogenic. It is possible that traces of such chemical pesticides can make their way into liquid nicotine extracted from the conventional (non-organic) tobacco, and our mission has always been to craft the highest-quality product.

Vape Organics’ proprietary nicotine is produced in-house from USDA-organic tobacco grown on family farms in the USA through a unique, cutting-edge manufacturing process that we customized. This organic nicotine is extracted through the supercritical CO2 extraction method, which is free of the chemical residues characteristic of other extraction methods, and utilizes 100% organic VG as the carrier, instead of petroleum-derived solvents (such as PG) that are otherwise the industry standard. The only USDA-certified organic nicotine on the planet, guaranteed free of PG and other petroleum-derived solvents, is exclusive to Vape Organics e-liquids.

3. Flavoring Needs PG as a Base

Macro View of Lime Slice in Carbonated WaterWhile PG is by far the most common carrier of the flavorings used in vape juice, one of the websites went so far as to actually make the following claim: “We have already determined that flavoring needs PG as a base.” Vape Organics doesn’t use traditional “flavorings,” but real, plant-based and vegan-friendly extracts custom-formulated so that PG is completely absent. Produced using either CO2 extraction or steam distillation, our custom flavor extracts utilize organic glycerin or organic ethyl alcohol derived from corn as carriers, in place of PG.

The alcohol is necessary for a certain stage of our production process, namely to solubilize the flavor extracts but once it is combined with the organic glycerin, we utilize a special and proprietary method of evaporation. It is not possible to say that we evaporate 100% of the alcohol in lieu of special testing to determine alcohol concentrations, but in our experience it is a highly effective process. Indeed, we consistently receive the feedback that our e-liquids taste “pre-steeped,” and, in effect, the evaporation process is a form of pre-steeping.

4. It Doesn’t Exist

USDA Certified Organic LogoAside from the highly obvious flaw in the claim that there are no truly organic e-liquids, when there is in fact a certified organic option that has been available for the past three years, to say that we cannot create it degrades our industry. This would be unfortunate under any circumstances, but when these hurdles have already been crossed, when an e-liquid company has already been certified as organic and approved by a federal agency as stringent as the USDA long before the FDA regulations were released, it unnecessarily takes us back in time and diminishes the progress and innovation characteristic of the vape industry.

Organic e-juice is not simple to formulate, but it is possible… all consumers need to do is look for the USDA seal to ensure the absence of: PG, artificial flavors and sweeteners, chemical additives like diacetyl and acetyl propionyl, and synthetic chemical pesticides. The seal also ensures the presence of organic-compliant and regulated manufacturing processes and ingredients.
