Inspiration Series, Part III – RELIK TRIBE

Home/General, Inspiration/Inspiration Series, Part III – RELIK TRIBE

Sage Staun-Snyder and Angelica Luczak are the visionaries behind Relik Vapor, a company devoted to crafting top tier vaporizers out of otherwise untouched materials. The Relik Tribe has officially taken an already elevated “art of vaping” experience and transformed it into an “artifact of vaping” experience. We checked in with this dream team to talk history, innovation and exciting new horizons.

Iron and Nickel Meteorite Mechanical Mod by Relik VaporSPARK OF INSPIRATION: What inspired you to infuse the young but constantly evolving industry of vape technology with ancient materials boasting such insanely rich odysseys, especially meteorite?

RT: Thank you for interviewing us! We both have a background in the arts and we have always been intrigued by what natural art the universe creates on its own… everything from crystalized fossils, to grains of wood, to the pigmentation of the human eye. We strongly believe the world needs more art and aesthetics to thrive, so we decided to look at everyday items, typically considered “mundane.” We were inspired by a question: What does the modern man have on him at all times? Phone, keys, a wallet, and a pack of cigarettes or a vape. We decided to take the latter and create a piece of art that people can keep with them at all times.

Tellurium Copper Mechanical Mod by Relik VaporMAKING AN IMPACT: Tell us a little bit about the differences between the two pieces you currently offer. How has the vape community responded to and received your offerings? What question(s) are you most frequently asked?

RT: Our pinnacle product is the ‘Traveler,’ which is composed of a solid 4.7 billion year old meteorite tube complimented with silver ends and contacts. The ‘Impact’ is virtually the same mechanical design, made out of Tellurium copper, this time complemented by Muonionalusta meteorite adornments on the front and button. Both products are versatile, and can be used for an everyday vaping experience or for a cloud competition.

We have gotten amazing responses to our boldness and ingenuity, and have been given the occasional “you are insane” comment, which has only pushed us more in the direction of succeeding.  The questions most frequently asked are: “How did you come up with this idea?” and “Where do I get one?”

Hand-crafted Scrolls and Boxes with Relik Vapor ProductsSUSTAINABLE VALUES: We love your commitment to sourcing fair-trade meteorite and other materials for use in your pieces. What message are you sending to consumers who will purchase your mods? How does this add to the quality of experience you offer vapers?

RT: The message is that Art inspires the soul and enhances the creativity of Mankind. What our consumers are vaping is not just a mechanical device, it is History in their hands… and a daily reminder of what is possible to create.

"Survive History" Inscription on Mechanical Mod by Relik VaporPERFORMANCE: You claim that the 4.7 billion year old meteorite mod “hits like something out of this world.” Share with us a bit about the enhanced performance capacity of your Traveler mod.

RT: In the beginning we had no idea that the meteorite conducted electricity “differently.” Throughout our process, we discovered while vaping the ‘Traveler,’ that it had the power of a mechanical and the comfort of a tank. We love to use this analogy from one of our consumers, “Any other mod hits like tap water, but the ‘Traveler’ hits like purified water.”

Angelica Luczak of Relik Vapor Doing Handstand While VapingHOME SWEET HOME: You’re based in California, which has been called the “vape capitol” of the world, though in a very unique enclave in Los Angeles. How have your immediate surroundings influenced the direction that Relik Tribe has chosen? What trends are you noticing in your local vape community?

RT: We live on the outskirts of Los Angeles, in the mountains of Topanga, which is full of artists and inspiration. All around us are tinkerers, jewelers, and world explorers who have collected artifacts from their adventures. Following along that path, we decided to incorporate the materials we consider beautiful and share them with the vape community.

TRAILBLAZERS: Is the box mod making mechanical mods obsolete? What’s next for Relik Vapor?

We think that choice is up to the individual; they decide which to use based on ergonomics and the power they want. Undoubtedly though, the box mod is thriving in the vape industry, and we are very excited to release our new unnamed box mod in the near future. This new product will do what the ‘Traveler’ has done, and set the bar for box mods around the globe.

Thank you!

Wow! Great! I love hearing about the what sparked the inspiration to make and impact. Your values are indeed more than suitable and even though you point out hat box mods are thriving, I admire that you leave it up to the vaper while stating your own opinion. Bravo.

Linda, thanks for sharing! We did a little play on words; usually people say “art of vaping” so we added an extra element to rise to the level of Relik! Have a great day!
